Red Sun

i was running through the desert at dusk

a gravel trail leading my way

i tried to devour the bulbous hills with eyes

but the red sun was too bright

and my plunging foot hit a stone mid stride

i tripped, as i have so many times

and fell towards the wise path

towards the earth

but when i reached the surface

my chin splitting the ground

i fell right through

as if into water

upwards like air bubbles

edges red from the sunset–

the best part of every day
